Emily Roesly: An Extraordinary Mind, An Enormous Heart

February 6, 2009 · 36 Comments

Big I first met Emily some 5 years ago when I joined morgueFile. She was one of the first I encountered; she runs the gamit from friendly and helpful to funny and sweet. She has a large portfolio of work from the photographic image to the written word…she, quite simply, boggles my mind. Where she gets the energy is a mystery, but when Emily is determined to finish something, she usually does.

Apart from writing books, running her photography business, and working full time, she volunteers a bunch of time and effort at morgueFile…oh, and of course, she looks after home and hubby too.

Though Emily doesn’t know it yet, I’ve grabbed a couple of her bird pictures to use as reference material in a digital painting I’m planning; what she does know is that I love her books. I’ve read two of them (Circle of Light and Whispering Waters), over and over and over. I’m looking forward to reading the third book (Full Capacity). Have a look at the book teaser below…then go buy one!

Author’s Bio

With a wild sense of humor as a shield and cutting wit as a weapon, Emily Roesly drifts through life taking each day as it comes. Knowing that control is an illusion, she relies on the love of her husband and soul-mate, Bill, to keep her grounded while God keeps her safely on the right path. She enjoys a quiet life in the woods of New Jersey’s Pine Barrens, nestled in front of her keyboard as her imagination soars like the eagles above the pines.

More of her photography can be found at BigStock Photo, on her own site Emily’s Imagery, and at morgueFile.

Congratulations, Em! The photos chosen to be shown here are perfect. I especially like “Sulking”. You can just feel that cool, sandy mud on your feet. And you know exactly the feeling that the “sulker” has at the moment. We’ve probably all been there.

Wow Emily, this is very good stuff. I think it’s been five years when I saw your happy face on Morguefile. I remember when the company you work for took away the use of personal time on the computer. What a blow for us at Mf. Mf stands for my family which is what we have at that site.

Wow! Don’t even know where to begin. Well, maybe I do. Emily is and has been the best thing to happen to me since I married my wife. That is saying something. She is, I believe, the ideal, the quintessence of all that I want to be but fail at miserably on a daily basis. I am truly in awe of her work, her literary and photography work. I wish I would have known her when I got married. However, I did get to experience her prowess when she captured, so memorably and vibrantly, my production of A Raisin in the Sun. What a friend she has been and she has a great husband, Bill, that loves her and supports her and I always tell her to prepare for their move to Beverly Hills one day–no expenses needed.

I am looking forward to Full Capacity. In fact, I am dying to narrate one of her books. (Hint! LOL) But this couldn’t happen to a better person. God bless you Em.

How heartening to read about this remarkable woman. I don’t know whether Emily Roesly wrote this or you did, Gracey, but I love it:
“Knowing that control is an illusion, . . .”

    Brilliant and succinct.
